From “Going Abroad” To “Opening Up”
Launched in July 2024, Vietcetera Goes Abroad began as a series of events designed to connect Vietnamese people living and working overseas. Just over a year later, the journey has reached three countries and four cities, woven together thousands of stories, and become a solid bridge between Vietnamese communities worldwide offering real opportunities, shared experiences, and a diverse mix of voices.
But along the way, one question kept coming up: Is going abroad enough or can we open up something bigger?
Vietcetera Open is our answer to that.
This season, Vietcetera Open carries even more of Vietcetera’s spirit, creating a space where Vietnamese, wherever they may be, can find each other, share perspectives, and feel part of something larger.
A Small Shift With Bigger Meaning
This evolution is more than a name change. Vietcetera Open is about reshaping what connection means, not just going places, but opening up conversations, ideas, and relationships that feel real and lasting.
It’s built on three simple pillars:
Open spaces: Welcoming environments where people can connect across borders, languages, and cultures and feel seen.
Open conversations: Conversations that blend tradition and modern thinking, local stories, and global viewpoints.
Open opportunities: Whether it’s a new job, a new idea, or just a sense of belonging, it all starts with connection.
What’s Next For Vietcetera Open?
This July, Vietcetera Open officially kicks off its new journey with a new identity, starting in Paris, moving through Berlin, heading to Tokyo, and finally arriving in Ho Chi Minh City in early 2026.
Paris and Berlin are creative and cultural hubs in Europe, where Vietnamese communities are growing and shaping industries like design, tech, and entrepreneurship. Tokyo, home to over half a million Vietnamese, is a place where cultural exchange happens every day. And Ho Chi Minh City, the final stop in this leg of the journey, brings it all home, a place where stories from abroad meet stories from here.
At each destination, Vietcetera Open will host a mix of Meet & Greets, panel talks, and networking sessions, where:
- We share stories of moving abroad and coming back.
- We talk about the idea of “Vietnam as a brand”, from small things like daily work habits to bigger things like how we show up on the world stage.
- And most importantly, we reconnect Vietnamese communities near and far, so no one feels left out of the conversation.
Ho Chi Minh City will be a meaningful homecoming, not the end, but a pause before what’s next. A chance to reflect, reconnect, and keep the journey going.
